Happy New Year from City of Squares! 2012 was a year of big change for City of Squares. We welcomed guitarist Samm Bahman into our family, played some fantastic shows, and met a lot of great people along the way. We're looking forward to bringing you tons of new music in the form of a full-length album this year, which we're recording in picturesque house on Cape Cod. We'll be in the studio for most of the next few months, but we do have some shows coming your way as well, so stay tuned for more details, and don't forget to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for all of the latest updates! Oh, and we've been nominated for a "Best Band of the Year" award by New England music publication Limelight Magazine. Happy New Year

Some people get the post-holiday blues at this time of year, but to us here at City of Squares the new year means a fresh start, and that gets us pretty jazzed up. In the coming months we'll be putting together tons of new material and playing some fantastic shows. We might even have a few special announcements.

So hold on to your hats, folks! Here comes 2012!

To kick things off, join us as we IGNITE the NITE next Thursday, January 12th, 2012 with Boston GLOW, a non-profit run by four fantastic women from the city of Boston including our very own Jenna Paone. IGNITE the NITE will take place at the EpiCenter at Artists of Humanity (Fort Point, Boston) and will feature delicious food from celebrity chef Tony Ambrose, cocktails made with Triple Eight Vodka, TV personality T. Whitlow, a seriously cool silent auction and performances from...City of Squares. All of the funds from the evening go directly to supporting GLOW's Ignite Change Essay Contest initiative, a scholarship program that provides educational opportunities for deserving Boston girls.

Remix

The remix is a musical expectation, at this stage of the game. When a song speaks to you, it's natural that you'll want to hear it again and again. And eventually, you might even want to hear it in a different way.

So here's our attempt at the art known as the remix. On Saturday, November 12th, we'll be doing a special trio show at Copperfield's in Boston featuring new versions of your favorite songs. Consider this piano-heavy performance to be our tribute to Ben Folds. We'll also have the Grace Morrison, our good friend and fabulous musician, songwriter, and vocalist in her own right, up there with us, lending her talents. It's going to be a fantastic night, and we can't wait to see you there!

Don't forget to visit our Facebook Page to get all of the latest info, updates, and the ramblings of City of Squares.

We can't believe it's almost September. You know what that means, right? That's right, we'll be back at the Middle East Upstairs on 9.9.11, playing with Jay Knox Sherman, Adam and The Waxmen, Trebek, and OTP. We love playing this room, and we can't wait to give you an awesome show. So go invest in some black leather pants and save up your beer money. Bring a friend, a pet, or whoever else you think might like the music. Just make sure you're there!

New Dates Added!

Hello everyone!

This is a short note just to let everyone know that we have a few shows lined up toward the end of July and into early August that we want to make everyone aware of.

July 30 - BestBuy on Newbury Street- 360 Newbury Street in Boston, MA.  It'll be a bit like our recent radio performance, where it's a little more on the quite side.  We'll start around 2:30pm for about an hour.

Aug 5 - Newburyport, MA Yankee Homecoming Festival Waterfront Stage.  A fun outdoor show in a great location for a cool festival.  If you're in the area, stop by.  Again, we're on around 2:30 until around 4pm.

Aug 6 -  The big one.  We'll be at Church.  No, not that kind of church, the live music club.  Our first show at Church Rock Club for a while.  The room is killer, and if we're to be completely honest, we've had some of our better performances here.  It's a Saturday night, there'll be some good bands playing, so come on out and show some support.  69 Kilmarnock St., Boston, MA.  It's in the Fenway area.

Those are the updates for now.  Thanks!
